🌖 Create your own Moon Phases hanging art with

🌖 Create your own Moon Phases hanging art with us! This project is such a fun way to celebrate the moon in all its splendid glory 😍

What you need:
- air dry clay
- rolling pin
- mason jar lid
- clay knife
- straw
- watercolor paints
- twine
- small branch

What you do:

1. Collect textured nature items on your next hike. We love using cedar.
2. Roll clay out into a 1/2” thick sheet.
3. Place your nature finds on the sheet. Gently roll over them to create an impression. Remove from clay to see those magical patterns appear.
4. Use your mason jar lid or a glass to cut out five circles. Leave two circles whole to represent your new and full moon phases. Place your mason jar lid to create a crescent/gibbous shape on two other circles. Cut one circle in half to represent the first and last quarter.
5. Punch a hole in the top and bottom of each moon phase ornament.
6. Allow to dry completely. Paint your impressions with watercolours. String together in order with twine and hang from your branch.

🌕Who’s excited for the harvest moon this week? These next several evenings, step outside and take in that stunning view. This last supermoon of the year will shine brightest Friday evening, lighting up the Autumn sky.

Celebrate those golden hues with a turmeric latte and grab your binoculars to explore those seas and craters on the moon’s surface. What shapes do you see? Read moon myths from around the world then create your own! How did that gorgeous moon get up into the sky?
